Brittany, cousin to Ireland and Scotland, is a region that epitomises all the Celtic characteristics of a rugged land and bracing maritime climate on a background of sudden sharp storms. An ideal climate for whisky!
With 83 years experience in distillation, we decided in 1983 to begin the adventure of whisky, the Celtic eau-de-vie par excellence.
Gilles Leizour, supported by Bernard Le Pallec, sales director, went to Scotland for inspiration, then ensconced himself in his laboratory, coming out in 1987 with a blend: the WB.
In 1998, we continue our research to create Armorik, the first single malt in Brittany! With Armorik, we proudly enter the big league. This single malt rapidly becomes our engine.
During the Whisky Live trade fair at Paris, we create a stir by presenting our new range: Armorik Double Maturation, Armorik Classic and Breizh Whisky. This range, exclusively reserved for the traditional market, has been a great success. Following this event, La Maison du Whisky lists the range and starts to distribute it nationally.
Our whiskies gradually increase their renown and are distinguished by their peers: "Best European Single Malt" in 2013 at the World Whiskies Awards for Armorik Double Maturation, then "Best European Blended Whisky" for Breizh Whisky in 2013 and 2014, have crowned our efforts. Note the gold medal of Armorik Edition Originale in the first Concours Général Agricole open to French whiskies and the recent "Double Gold" medal at the San Francisco World Spirits Competition.
The success of ARMORIK remains dynamic. Proof of this is continued growth in export. Armorik is now distributed in the United States, Canada, Australia and throughout Europe (even Scotland...).
The excellent welcome reserved for the exclusive expressions of Armorik Millésime 2002 and Armorik Maître de Chai encourage us to continue this path and new expressions will soon be produced from the stills.
